Fast track Medical degree in Europe - Graduate entry Medical Program
Fast track degree in medicine or Graduate Entry medical Program (GEP) accelerated degree in medicine in Europe is a 4-year medical degree program designed for those who already have a degree preferably in a relevant subject, e.g. biological sciences. However, others may simply require an upper second-class degree or above in any subject – this also applies to schools still requiring entrants with a degree to undergo a five-year course.
The terms Fast track degree in medicine, Graduate Medical Program (GMP), Graduate Entry Program (GEP) or Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) are the same and design a four-year program leading to medical degree. Graduate Entry Programs (GEP) is characteristics of countries of most United States Universities, but most universities around the world hove currently introduced the same program education offers.

University degree: bachelor degree in medical related sciences, but some universities accept also those with bachelor degree with non-science related degrees e.g. arts, law;
Aptitude tests such as the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test – mainly in USA and Canada), UKCAT (UK Clinical Aptitude Test, especially by UK medical schools)or GAMSAT(Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test – in Australia, UK and Ireland). In some countries, those tests are used to select students into medicine (MBBS or MBChB or MD) but also into Dentistry (BDSc or BDS) , physiotherapy , optometry, etc. To be qualified to graduate Medical Program, the candidate must obtain a cut-off score in one of such aptitude test. Some country may organize an entry test to those graduate entry medical students without aptitude test score.

The first two years cover both basic medical science and clinical skills; the first year concentrates on science taught within a clinical context but with a gentle introduction to clinical practice, while the second year concentrates on clinical teaching with a smaller science component.
Graduates are encouraged to work at their own pace, and to pursue in depth those areas of medicine that particularly interest them. The final two years are shared with the six-year course; students are fully integrated into the clinical course at this stage, and take the same final exams as candidates on the six-year course.
Fast tracking medical / accelerated program has an important role to play in widening access routes into medicine -for example, for those who may not have aspired to a medical degree earlier or for people from wider social and ethnic backgrounds. Some schools do specify that they only accept students with a science background; others have more broad entry requirements.
